George Correia - Drums

​

George Correia has been an accomplished drummer/percussionist in the East Bay area for over 40 years. He received his B.A. in Music and Applied Music from Berklee College in 1979 and furthered his education by receiving his Master of Arts in Teaching from Rhode Island College in 1992. George has been a music teacher in the Pawtucket school system for over 27 years and has been teaching private lessons since 1983.  His repertoire includes: Jazz, Latin, Rock, Funk, Composition and Arrangement. He is also extremely well versed in Mallet & Timpani percussion.

George has performed all over the world with various ensemble groups and bands, including London, Paris, Genova, Venice, Florence, Rome, New York, Las Vegas, Palm Beach, and Canada. In 1980, he performed at the Winter Olympics with The Steppin’ Out Band featuring the former heavy weight boxing champion Joe Frazier.

George’s discography as a drummer, percussionist and arranger is extensive. Notably, he was inducted into the R.I. Music Hall of Fame in April of 2013, for his drumming role in Steve Smith & the Nakeds, a well known R.I. band that performed rock, soul and rhythm & blues.
