Moriah Ramos - Flute and Beginner Piano

 

Moriah Ramos is a Bristol native who was inspired to be the accomplished musician and experienced educator she is today by her music teachers in the Bristol/ Warren School district. She holds a Masters of Music degree in Flute Performance from Longy School of Music of Bard College and a Bachelor of Music from Rhode Island College. Moriah has had the privilege to study with a number of well-known flute teachers such as Julie Scolnik, Mary Ellen Guzzio- Kregler, Marco Grandos, Vanessa Mulvey, John Ranck, and Deborah James. She has attended and performed at numerous masterclasses with famous flutists such as Gary Schocker, Carol Wincec, Susan Hoeppner, Bradley Garner, Susan Milan, Jeffrey Khaner, and Robert Willoughby. Moriah has performed in many well known concert halls and venues throughout the country including the legendary Carnegie Hall.  

 

Moriah began teaching private flute lessons in 2010 and her teaching experience includes both individual and group lessons, ages 6-45, beginners to advanced, at private music schools, colleges, public schools, home lessons, and her own flute studio. She has experience coaching ensembles and preparing students for recitals, auditions and competitions. Moriah inspires her students to be self-sufficient and knowledgeable musicians in a challenging yet supportive environment. 

 

Moriah is the Principal Piccolo player and Vice President of the Rhode Island Wind Ensemble where she has been featured as a flute soloist on several concerts. Moriah is the music director at The Pennfield School in Portsmouth, RI where she teaches preschool through 8th grade music, band, multimedia music, chorus, and runs the instrumental lesson program after school. Moriah also is a freelance musician who has played almost every genre of music there is from classical to metal. She loves to go electric and use effects pedals and loopers with her flute when she plays with bands such as In Harmony, The Oblivious Fools, The Amethyst Syndicate, The River Provides and other local bands. She jumps on any opportunity she gets to put her improvisation and ear-training skills to the test. Moriah is passionate about sharing her knowledge and love of music with others.
